Chino Grande continues to bring nothing but heat. This interview is on his new ‘Componeros Album’ which is full of all the artist from Charlie Row Campo. As you can hear a little snippets on video the album will be on fire like always. Did you know?…… That the world famous Latin Legends Supergroup “Tierra” are featured on Chino Grande’s Slow It Down Album? If you are not familiar with this group you will have to get in touch with your past. Tierra was one of the first  Chicano groups to have 4 top 40 singles in regular rotation Nationwide. One of their  hit songs, called “Together,” was number one R&B and  reached number 18 on the national charts in January of 1981.  They received an American Music award nomination for that year. They have performed world wide and are a very strong and respected group that maintined deep roots within their community…. But besides having a hit songs, “Tierra” had been a big influence to the Chicano Movement. During the late 60 and 70′s “Tierra”and family were actively invloved in protesting the Vietnam  war and were  participants in the Vietnam Moratorium. The Moratorium was a huge event  in East Los Angeles that aimed to shed light and protest the large  numbers of Chicano’s that were being sent to the front lines to die in Vietnam. This protest  eventually turned into a riot due to the heavy handed techniques of the Sherrifs department. It was at this event where famed journalist Ruben Salazar lost his life due to a tear gas cannister to the head. Many believe that his death was premediated due to the fact that Mr. Salazar was exposing the truths Chicano deaths within the LA County Jail system.  After a peaceful day of protests, Sheriff’s decided to attack the demonstrators for no reason at all. This day is infamously known as the East LA Riots and is defining part of history and our culture: August 29, 1979. At that time Chicano’s did not  have the numbers nor the voice in city government as we now have.  “Tierra”  played a major role in  pushing our culture to the forefront on a national level. Even going as far to be featured in “Life” magazine when there were virtually no Latinos to be seen in Major publications period. Tierra is still  very active and you can find them performing all across the country and even internationally….But the best part is that  now you can find them on Chino Grande’s new Album “Slow It Down” available everywhere music is sold.

Chino Grande “Slow it Down Pushed back till 8/25/09.. We have to push back since the first order of cds sent out was not enough. We got the phone call today 8/11/09. What does this mean? That Slow it Down will hit some stores but stores that are a little farther away wont have them but some will. So to play it save we are pushing back the release date to 8/25/09~
